  World Oral Health Day 2022 Top


Centre: Government Dental College & Research Institute, Bangalore



On the occasion of 'World Oral Health Day' The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government Dental College and Research Institute, Bangalore conducted outreach programs and oral health education programs from 17th to 24th of March. Oral screening and anticipatory guidance were performed for pregnant women in Chandapura Primary Health Centre. Oral screening camp was conducted in Ulsoor, Bengaluru where oral health education and tobacco cessation counselling were provided. Oral health education was given to the out patients of the Victoria hospital emphasing the significance of Oral health. Oral Health Screening Camp in Byrasandra slum, Bengaluru where oral screening and oral health education regarding effects of tobacco usage, early childhood caries and brushing technique were performed. Oral Health education program was conducted in Chandapura Market. Oral health education was provided and oral health education pamphlets and booklets were distributed.

  International Women's Day Top


Center: Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar



On the occassion of International Women's Day on March 8th, 2022, the Department of Public Health Dentistry at Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar, collaborated with Jalpa Mahila Mandal at Piplughat, Arki, distt Solan, H.P. Females and their families received oral health education as well as free dental screening and treatment. On this special occasion, the nine-member team wore purple ribbons to express solidarity with women. On a mouth model, toothbrushing and flossing techniques were demonstrated. The importance of mouthwash and how to use it were discussed. Women and their families actively participated in the health education programme and children were eager to practise toothbrushing on their own. A total of 58 individuals were screened, with 12 scalings, 2 extractions, and 1 ART procedure performed.

  World Health Day 2011 Top


Center- Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar



On the occasion of World Health Day, team Public Health Dentistry, Himachal Dental College (HDC), Sundernagar participated in the nationwide programme “Special Olympics Bharat” (SOB) under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative on 7th April, 2022 at Officer's Club, BBMB Colony, Sundernagar. More than 200 athletes with Intellectual Disability and their family members were screened for potential oral diseases and educated on its prevention. The athletes were also provided a dental kit comprising of a toothpaste and toothbrush. The team was fortunate to conduct the camp under the guidance of Director, HDC, Dr. Anil Singla who felicitated the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sh. Jai Ram Thakur and Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal and welcomed them to the dental screening area. CM sir was also kind enough to visit the dental van and himself clicked selfies with the team, interacted with patients and motivated the dental team. The team was also appreciated for their services provided by SOB.

  National Dentist Day 2022 Top


Center: Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh



On the occasion of National Dentist's Day, Team Public Health Dentistry provided dental services in the Mega Camp organized by Rotary Club, Sundernagar at Jhungi, Near Rohanda on Sunday, 06-Mar-2022. Health education on proper toothbrushing technique with help of a tooth brushing model, flossing techniques, use of mouthwash, tobacco cessation and diet counseling was provided to the camp participants. A total of 86 patients were screened and treatment was provided to 24 patients on-site (20 scalings and extraction of teeth of four patients). The team was felicitated for their services provided at the camp site and enjoyed a traditional Himachali Dham at the end of the camp. The team comprised of 10 members and included the following:

On the occasion of World Oral Health Day, Department of Public Health Dentistry, Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar organized a camp at Gurdwara Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh on 21-Mar-2022. Students from gurudwara sponsored school, people from Mandi and devotees participated in the camp. Oral health education including demonstration of tooth brushing and flossing on mouth model, importance and use of mouthwash was given by final year students. Tobacco cessation and diet counseling was also given. On this special occasion, a pledge board was made and patients were made to sign a pledge to preserve their teeth and smile for life. A total of 88 patients were screened, 15 scalings and 3 restorations were done.

  National Conference -”Tobacco Control: Healthcare and Beyond” Top

To observe World No Tobacco Day 2022, Manav Rachna Dental College, Department of Public Health Dentistry, FDS, MRIIRS organized a National Conference - 'Tobacco Control: Healthcare and Beyond' on 26th and 27th of May 2022. The guest speakers were Dr. L Swasticharan, Additional Dy. DG & Director, DGHS, MoH, GOI; Dr. PC Gupta, Director Healis Sekhsaria Institute of Public Health, Mumbai; Dr. Pawan Gupta, Director HN Max Institute of Cancer Care, New Delhi & Founder – ICanCaRe; and Dr. Vikrant Mohanty, Prof. & HOD, Public health dentistry, MAIDS, Delhi. The session conveners were Dr. Shourya Tandon, Dr. Abhishek Mehta & Dr. Mansi Atri. The conference was approved for 4 CDE points and we were joined by Dr. Charu Mohan Marya, Principal, Sudha Rustagi Dental College as the HSDC Observer. Dr. Aswini Balappanavar, Dr. Aditi Verma, Dr. Sukvinder Singh Oberoi, Dr. Ruchi Nagpal, Dr. Shilpi Singh, Dr. Sonal Dhingra, Dr. Mitika Pahuja, Dr. Mohit Dadu & various faculty members from our college joined as judges for scientific sessions. This conference was conducted in Hybrid Mode with 250 registrations and 92 Scientific Presentations. This was the first ever National Conference conducted exclusively on Tobacco Control by any Dental College in India.

  International Women's Day 2022 Top


Centre- Manav Rachna Dental College, Faridabad



Department of Public Health Dentistry, Manav Rachna Dental College , MRIIRS, Faridabad organized a Women's only Dental Awareness and Screening Drive on International Women's Day in association with NavSrishti Foundation. The foundation has on ground presence in nearly 900 households involving almost 1,20,000 women, where they support women self-help groups and were instrumental in conducting door to door awareness for the maximum involvement of women in this program. International Women's Day marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The theme this year was to #BreakTheBias. This necessitates the need for such a program. Oral health education was given to four different batches of women. The topics covered were common oral health problems and their prevention, changes in oral health of women at various stages of life such as puberty, pregnancy and menopause, menstrual and general hygiene. Total number of patients screened was 131 and another 60 received Sanitary Napkin packs. The women responded well to the program and realized the importance of focusing on their health too along with the health of their family. The message of breaking the bias on women's day was well conveyed to them.

Center: Hazaribag College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Hazaribag, Jharkhand



On the occasion of “World Health Day,” Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, Hazaribag College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Hazaribag, Jharkhand organized a general and oral health awareness programme week. We celebrated this awareness week along with the population of Hazaribag, Jharkhand. Proper brushing technique was demonstrated, and oral hygiene instructions were given to people visiting camp and the anganwadi workers. After the demonstration, people were asked to do brushing in front of us. Oral hygiene kits were also provided to them. Women hygiene kit were also distributed among the girls and the women. We took active participation in brooming the premises and watering the plants of the colleges and anganwadi center. They were also engaged with some educational activities related to oral health. We distributed plants among the OPD patients of our college. The interns posted in the department played an active role in all the activities.

Center: Hazaribag College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Hazaribag, Jharkhand



On the occasion of “World Oral Health Day”, Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, Hazaribag College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Hazaribag, Jharkhand organized an oral health awareness week. Target population for the weeklong activities were under privileged and underserved section of the population. Over 125 kids and 375 caretakers took participation in the activities. Proper brushing technique was demonstrated, and oral hygiene instructions were given to the kids and their care takers. In the Tell-Show-Do activities, the participants were instructed to do brushing activities in front of oral health professionals (dentists). Oral hygiene kits were also provided to them. They were also engaged with educational activities such as quiz, drawing etc. related to oral health.

The interns posted in the department played an active role in all the activities.

  World Tuberculosis Day 2022 Top


Center: Hazaribag College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Hazaribag, Jharkhand



On the occasion of “World Tuberculosis Day,” Dept. of Public Health Dentistry, Hazaribag College of Dental Sciences and Hospital, Hazaribag, Jharkhand organized an awareness programme. The undergraduate students participated in Face painting competition. The post graduate students participate in best use of dental materials competition. We targeted the OPD patients and provided counselling specifically to the patients who have history of tobacco consumption. We ended the day by spreading awareness among the staffs of our college. The interns posted in the department played an active role in all the activities.

  World Health Day 2022 Top

World Health Day was celebrated on 7th April, 2022 at Government College of Dentistry, Indore. The theme for World Health Day 2022 was “Our Planet Our Health”. Padmashree Janak Palta McGilligan graced the celebration as the Chief Guest. Dr Sanjay Dixit, Dean MGM Medical College, Indore was the Guest of Honour. Poster Competition and Best from Waste Competition were organised for the students of the college. A pledge wall was put up with eco-friendly material. eCertificates and an eco-friendly toothbrush were distributed to over 200 participants who showed interest to protect the environment and promote eco-friendly products. To create awareness about the environment a symposium was organised in the college which received huge participation from faculty, non teaching staff and students of the college.   CDE Program on “Tobacco Cessation in Clinical Practice” Top


Centre: Government College of Dentistry, Indore



A Continuing Dental Education Program was conducted by the Scientific Committee of Government College of Dentistry Indore in association with Indian Dental Association, Indore branch on 26.03.2022. The program was titled “Tobacco Cessation in Clinical Practice”. There were more than 50 registered delegates for the event, which included interns, post graduate students, faculty and clinical practitioners from Indore and Bhopal. The invited members were representatives from dental colleges of Indore and office bearers of IDA, Indore branch. The main speaker for the event was Dr Aswini Y B, Professor Department of Public Health Dentistry, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi. The guest lecture was followed by Panel Discussion which was headed by Dr B M Srivastava, ex principal Government College of Dentistry, Indore. Other panel discussion members were Dr Puneet Gupta, Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government College of Dentistry, Indore, Dr Poonam Rana Tomar, Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry, Index Institute of Dental Sciences, Indore, Dr Sourabh Badjatiya, Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry, Modern Dental College and Resource Center, Indore, Dr Rahul Ganavadiya, Reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry, College of Dental Sciences, Rau, Indore. Dr Deshraj Jain, Principal, Government College of Dentistry, Indore graced the program by his presence and shared his efforts in the area of Tobacco Control.

  World No Tobacco Day Top


Center: Government Dental College And Research Institute, Bangalore



WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY was flagged off on 28/5/2022 at Government dental college and Research Institute, Bangalore by Dept of Public Health dentistry and NSS Committee GDCRI. The NSS volunteers collected Bidi and Cigarette butts from around the hot spot areas of the city and also educated and created awareness by holding placards depicting the ill effects of tobacco to the general public.
